Tomato Lust

Tomato Lust

With only a few days remaining in July, I can hear the tomatoes calling to me, whispering that they are almost ready. I can’t stand the wait.

The tiny orbs in my garden are showing their first blush, like young maidens making their debut. I think they do this to taunt me, knowing the very sight of them sends me into a frenzy; they keep me waiting while flaunting themselves openly. Devil fruits, that’s what they are. I’m starting to understand how men feel sometimes.

Given the range of my palate’s preferences, I find it intriguing that this one fruit captivates me with such force. Perhaps it is due to the small window of opportunity for feasting; but the same can be said of truffles, and while I swoon for them, the reaction is not quite as strong as it is for my darling tomatoes. It must be the heat.
