Food as Music?

I am not speaking in metaphors, either. It seems that recipe has now been turned into song by one Elliot Essman, who has recently released the Blues Cookbook.

His Cast Iron Pans is “a true love song, dedicated to cookware rather than to a sweetheart.” I must say that his reasoning is fairly solid: “People love cast iron,” Essman insists. “They pass well-seasoned pots and pans down as heirlooms. My girlfriend understands this and is not jealous.” Good thing, or he might be sleeping under a pastry blanket. :::rim shot:::

Lest you think this man a novice, Essman is a blue ribbon graduate of the Baking and Pastry program at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York City. He was nominated for the James Beard Foundation Journalism Award in 2005 for his food and beverage writing.
