Today, we celebrate the milestone birthday of a vibrant soul who has touched the lives of thousands of people around the world.

When Chef Mark Tafoya walked into my life 6 years ago, I had no idea that he would leave it forever changed. His passion, creative brilliance and commitment to excellence transformed the way I see my life, my work — and the world at large.

Those who have had the pleasure to meet him know that his ebullient spirit is unforgettable, and from Indonesia to right here in NYC, he has brought his energy and passion to the lives of others, inspiring them to go beyond what is comfortable to discover their own greatness.

I am proud to call him my brother, best friend and kindred spirit, and can think of no other person I would rather have next to me in the trenches. Please join me in honoring him on this special day, and leave him a note on this global birthday card.

Happy 40th birthday, Chef Mark! You look hella good for your age! :)
