In case you are unaware, baristas (baristi?) from the mid-Atlantic region of the US will gather in Washington, DC next month to face off amidst the steamy fear of impending espresso doom.
“Each barista has 15 minutes to prepare four espressos, four cappuccinos, and four signature drinks of their own creation. He or she is evaluated on a 1200 point scale, which is tabulated by a panel of 7 judges: a head judge, who oversees each competition round, four sensory judges, who taste the drinks and evaluate the baristas’ presentation, and two technical judges who grade the baristas’ technique.” The winner goes on to the nationals.
