28 Jun Oprah’s Next TV Star: Vote for Chef Mark & Jennifer!
I recently found out about Oprah’s open casting call to discover her next TV star, so Chef Mark and I talked about it, and decided to throw our hats into the ring. We have two different concepts, each expressing the core facets of our personalities, and we had a lot of fun choosing how to express ourselves.
Voting is open through July 2, requires no registration, and people can vote multiple times for their favorite videos. There are links to vote below, as well as in our sidebar. We’d love for you to join in the fun so we can see how far this will go! A selection of winners will be chosen to be on a reality show on the OWN network as the next star is chosen, so this could get interesting. Here are our concepts below, with the blurbs from our audition pages:
Chef Mark: Share Your Plate
I’m Chef Mark Tafoya, a personal chef in New York City. My passion is for sharing food, whether cooking for clients, having dinner with friends, or creating my audio and video podcasts about food in many parts of the world for my ReMARKable Palate blog. My show concept is built around the idea of “Share Your Plate”, where we get a chance to learn about people through their favorite family dish, celebration meal, or iconic cultural meal. I want to create a world where people of all backgrounds are sharing their culture and cuisines with one another: When the people are nourished, there is harmony!
Jennifer: Food + Sensuality = A Delicious Life
I’m Jennifer Iannolo, aka the Food Philosophy chick, which is the name of my blog and podcast. (Not the chick part.) I am also the co-creator of Culinary Media Network®, home of the world’s first all-food podcast channel, and have spent the past 6 years traveling the world celebrating the sensual pleasures of food. I’ve been doing that while managing a chronic illness called fibromyalgia. Since “coming out” about that on my blog recently, the response has been overwhelming — turns out there are a lot of people living with chronic illness, and they are looking for help with resources, ideas and inspiration. As I make huge changes to my diet and lifestyle, I’m on a new mission: to help others with chronic illness live a DELICIOUS LIFE, whether they’re gluten intolerant, have chronic fatigue or just feel stressed out. My show concept is a journey for us all to take together, as we pursue the flavors and experiences that make life magnificent — while chronic illness takes a back seat.
