Who says vegetarian food can’t be sexy? We visit Europe’s oldest vegetarian restaurant (founded in 1898), which has one of the busiest — and cleanest — kitchens we’ve ever seen. Managing Director Peter Vauthier gave us full access to the operation, from kitchen to dining room…to secret hidden room.
Jennifer and Chef Mark wander around the Christmas Markets in Zurich, Switzerland, and discover a couple holiday treats that are everywhere this time of year: Lángos and Glühwein.
We learn how Colonists in 18th Century Virginia prepared foods in a Hearth-fired kitchen. Frank Clark, Supervisor of Historic Foodways at Colonial Williamsburg, shows us around the kitchen of the Peyton Randolph House.
We attended a party hosted by publisher Phaidon at Thomas Keller’s Per Se Restaurant to honor Chef Ferran Adria on the publication of “A Day at El Bulli“, a 500 page exploration of the art of cuisine at his temple of gastronomy. The event drew a crowd of America’s culinary elite, who sipped Cava and sampled Per Se’s best hors d’oeuvres. Among the attendees were many of America’s top chefs, who were thrilled to support Chef Adria. (see if you can spot them all!)
A quick update from the book release party for Chef Ferran Adria’s book “A Day at El Bulli“, published by Phaidon. The party was at Chef Thomas Keller’s Per Se in New York City, where many of the culinary stars showed up to wish Chef Adria well. Fret not for the low quality. We’ll have full video coverage of the event, including Chef Mark’s interview with Chef Adria, in a day or two.
