We Got a Facelift

We Got a Facelift

Oh, hai. Remember that cluttered site with too much stuff on it? We threw it out. There’s a lot in store for 2011, so we wanted to be sure the house was in order.

For the past year or so, since we decided to create the Gilded Fork: Entertaining at Home cookbook, there’s been a phrase tap-tap-tapping at the back of our heads: “Play with your food.” So we wondered how we could translate that into everything we do, and our crafty little team came up with a bevy of ideas. Here are a few of those:

Test Kitchen

The new heart of this site will be our virtual Test Kitchen, where you’ll now find everything that has to do with ingredients, entertaining from brunch to a midnight snack, recipes, and a brand new fun little thang called Test Kitchen Tuesdays, with which we’re going to find out how much you’re willing to play. (Hint: Don’t throw anything in your fridge out this week. It might cost you a prize.) Yes, we have prizes. Now you’re paying attention, aren’t you?

Cooking School

Chef Mark and his team are busy at work crafting the next phase of development for our online Gilded Fork Cooking School. In addition to adding some courses to his Cooking with Chef Mark cooking series, we’ll also be adding options for gluten-free entertaining, and as soon as we can pull the Pastry Princess out of the kitchen, we’re shooting a baking series with her. So yes, things are getting fun.

Where is Everything Else?

Some other items look a bit different, so here’s the skinny:

PODCASTS: This is where you will find all of our podcasts, both audio and video, including CMN Travels, which was nominated for another Tasty Award this year as Best Food Travel Series: Web.

TRAVEL & PLACES: All of our meanderings from around the planet, from blog posts to audio and video, including interviews with chefs, tourism experts and authors.

DRINK: We’ve put beer, wine and spirits into a one handy category.

FOOD FOLKS: This new category includes chefs, purveyors, farmers, and any other fabulous industry folks who cross our paths.

KITCHEN SINK: This is essentially where we put everything else that doesn’t fit neatly into a category. Please feel free to do the dishes while you’re in there.
