Lenn Thompson

Wine Pairing Dude

Lenn Thompson, a Pittsburgh, PA native, moved to Long Island nearly a decade ago and promptly fell in love with the region’s dynamic and emerging wine industry. Lenn is a maverick, self-professed wine geek who out of pure passion began writing about the burgeoning wine industry on the North and South Forks of Long Island. He is now the resident wine pairing guru/dude/genie for the Gilded Fork’s monthly entertaining menus.

Lenn has established himself as a local wine authority and writes or has written for many Long Island publications including Dan’s Papers, the Long Island Wine Gazette, Hamptons.com and Long Island Press. Lenn is also a regional editor for Applelation America, covering both Long Island and the Hudson Valley.

His regional food and wine blog, LENNDEVOURS, is the Internet’s de facto source for New York wine information and has been recognized as such by many food and wine we sites and blogs the world over. Tom Wark, owner of Wark Communications, a Sonoma Valley-based wine PR firm believes that “Lenn Thompson’s coverage of the New York wine scene is the best out there. His LENNDEVOURS wine blog, as well as his other writings, carry an insider’s authority combined with honest and provocative opinion.”

Lenn’s uncorkings have been talked about from Coast to Coast including mentions by Eric Asimov in the New York Times, WineSediments.net, Oklahoma Wine News and WineCast.net.

An energetic wine scribe, Lenn has established himself as one of the best known wine writers in the important world the Internet, and is planning the launch of his own statewide New York-focused wine newsletter, the New York Cork Report in 2007.

Lenn lives in Sound Beach, New York with his wife Nena, an accomplished mezzo-soprano and music teacher, and their beagle, Ben Rothelisbeagle. While now considered an expert, Lenn has a low tolerance for wine snobs who suck the fun out of wine. His motto is:”Drink what you like. Don’t listen to critics.”

We dig that.
